Ikkubaru is a four-piece Indonesian band based in Bandung. The band's name was created by converting the front man's name, "Iqbal," into Japanese katakana romanization. Established in December 2011, Ikkubaru was heavily influenced by 1980s Japanese music, such as Tatsuro Yamashita, Mariya Takeuchi, and Kadomatsu Toshiki. Their debut album, "Amusement Park," released in 2014, achieved major success in Japan and was also released in various physical formats, including CDs, cassettes, and 12" vinyl. Ikkubaru has a deep connection with the Japanese music scene, providing and producing songs for various Japanese artists, singers, and idol groups, such as Tofubeats, Especia, Monari Wakita, TWEEDEES, RYUTist, Philosophy no Dance, Emiri Kanou, and Takashii Fuji. In June 2015, Ikkubaru made their first Japan Tour, playing seven sold-out shows and becoming a hot topic among music lovers in Japan. From 2015 to 2019, they toured in Japan almost every year,playing in various cities and festivals. They also collaborated with the famous Japanese artist and illustrator Hiroshi Nagai for two covers of their 12" vinyl albums, "Amusement Park" (2015) and "Brighter" (2017). In 2018, Ikkubaru performed for the first time outside of Japan and Indonesia at the GIMA Awards Festival in Taipei, Taiwan. Their sophomore album, "Chords and Melodies," was released in 2020 and was also released in various formats, including CD and 12" vinyl, by the Japanese record label Hayabusa Landings. In September 2021, the single "Summer Love Story" c/w "無重力ファンタジア" was released in 7" vinyl format at the City Pop on Vinyl event. Ikkubaru is currently preparing for a new single to be released around August in Japan.
