Ikkubaru is an Indonesian 4-piece band whose name was created by converting the band’s frontman name, "Iqbal”, into a Japanese katakana romanization. Established in Bandung in December 2011, Ikkubaru was heavily influenced by 80’s Japanese City Pop music, such as Tatsuro Yamashita, Mariya Takeuchi, and Toshiki Kadomatsu. Ikkubaru successfully made their first Japan Tour in 2015, played in 7 sold out shows, and has become a hot topic in Japan since then. Their debut album, "Amusement Park" (2014), was also a major success in Japan. The artwork for their 12" vinyl record was designed by the most famous Japanese City Pop illustrator, Hiroshi Nagai. They have a deep connection with the Japanese music scene by providing and producing songs for any Japanese artists, singers, and idol groups, such as; tofubeats, Michiru Hoshino , Kenichiro Nishihara, Pictured Resort, Especia, Monari Wakita, TWEEDEES, RYUTist, Philosophy no Dance, Emiri Kanou, Takashi Fujii, Yoko Kuzuya etc. Outside Japan and Indonesia, Ikkubaru have also resonated with their music by performing in other countries in Asia, such as Taiwan and Singapore. During the pandemic of COVID-19 in 2020, they physically released their sophomore album, “Chords and Melodies”, in Japan and Indonesia To commemorate the 10th anniversary of their musical journey, the third album, DECADE was physically released in three countries in three different formats. The 12" vinyl record was done by their Japanese label, CA VA? RECORDS/HAYABUSA LANDINGS, out on Record Store Day Japan in April 2024, the cassette tape version was released by the Taiwanese label, 感傷唱片行 Kind of Blue Records in May 2024, and the CD version was planned to release on June in their home country, Indonesia, with Demajors.
